We’ve been pretty busy recently doing lots of different things, many of which we can’t show you yet.
However, just before Christmas we finished work on the next release of our Wallboard, which we use internally to keep in touch with different Modality offices in the UK and US.
Modality Systems is a global company, graphically dispersed with offices in the UK and US. The Modality Systems Wallboard is a kiosk-style interactive application which uses Microsoft Lync to facilitate communication between offices. Sometimes you want to talk with whoever is in the office, not a person, and have an informal discussion. Modality Systems Wallboard gives spaces their own Lync presence, and provides a portal for offices to communicate. Offices can communicate as if they were next to each other, and remote workers can feel like they are part of the office by being able to open a window of communication anytime they want to.
One of the great new features we added in this release is Kinect support. Now you can just walk up to the screen, raise your hand and place a call!
We recorded a short video to demonstrate the Modality Systems Wallboard and show it being used between two of our offices:
As mentioned in the video we’ve used the Lync AutoAnswer project in this solution. As we talked about in an earlier post, this is an open-source, GitHub-based project which you can use to build your own auto-answer clients.
